International Cooperation

Improving communication with friends and colleagues abroad

International cooperation from a truly global perspective is essential when dealing with energy-related environmental problems and ensuring the safety of nuclear power generation. Japan's electric power companies have formed independent ties with electric utility companies around the world and have coordinated information exchanges in numerous fields, from power generation and marketing to power distribution and quality control.

The industry actively participates in high-level meetings with European and U.S. electric utilities, meetings of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), among others. It also hosts various technical training programs for personnel from Asia, Russia and Eastern European countries.

While Japan's electric power companies import most of their oil, coal, uranium and other fuel from overseas, they also purchase power generators and other necessary equipment from suppliers abroad.
