Chubu Electric cuts profit by 100 bil. yen on nuke plant accident

Chubu Electric Power Co. said Tuesday it has lowered its pretax profit projection for the current fiscal year by 100 billion yen to about 95 billion yen due to losses that resulted from an accident earlier this year involving a nuclear reactor at its Hamaoka nuclear power plant in Shizuoka Prefecture.

Japan's third-largest electric power company also slashed its group net profit projection for the year through next March by 63 billion yen to 57 billion yen.
